Rachael Wilkerson is an American journalist working for WRTV as an investigative reporter since joining the station in September 2021. Previously, she worked for WPMI Local15 in Mobile, Alabama as an investigative reporter and fill-in anchor for 3 years.

Wilkerson joined Troy University in 2014 when she finished her high school education at New Hope High School. In 2016, she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Communication and Broadcast Journalism. In 2017, she studied Spanish at Arizona State University.

Wilkerson’s investigations have caused many arrests, gotten lights erected in gloomy villages, stop signs and traffic lights added to busy streets, and bills paid. She also achieved outcomes for some community members by getting loved ones moved from a cemetery that was never considered lawful. Her most recent investigation exposed the warning signs and stories that didn’t make sense the day an 8-year-old with special needs passed away. His mother was apprehended and charged with negligence in his demise.
The Alabama Broadcasters Association gave her the 2021 Best Investigative Journalist Award and the 2020 Best Reporter Award. Also, she worked with a team that won a regional Edward R. Murrow “Overall Excellence” Award.
Wilkerson worked for WZDX in Huntsville, Alabama as a photographer, producer, and multimedia journalist. She expresses that she’ll always keep her previous communities in her heart. Moreover, she says that everyone has a story to tell.
