John Carter is an American journalist working for WBTV as a co-anchor of the WBTV News at Noon and WBTV News First at Four newscasts. Also, he hosts the Carolina Camera feature. He rejoined the station in 1996 after working as a Public Information Specialist for Mecklenburg County.

Carter joined Appalachian State University in Boone in 1974 when he finished his high school education at Owen High School in Swannanoa. In 1979, he graduated with a Bachelor degree in Bachelor Of Science degree in Communications Arts.

In this role, he oversaw the county’s video production work and was the county’s spokesperson. Closely, he worked with the county manager and county commissioners. Moreover, he worked as a host of two televisions broadcasted on WTVI.
