She also covered multiple crime cases like the killing of six people at an apartment.
Before coming to Miami, Maggie spent three years as a reporter at KSTP-TV from June 2008 to June 2011. During her tenure at KSTP-TV, she covered highlight news including the 2008 Republican National Convention, the 35-W bridge collapse, and the deadly blizzard in subzero. Earlier, Newland worked for WBBH-TV as a reporter from December 2004 to April 2008. She also covered historical events including the arrest and conviction of a Cape Coral councilman which earned her recognition from the Associated Press.
Maggie started her broadcasting career at WVIR-TV in Charlottesville as an anchor, reporter, and producer. She served the station for two years and eight months from May 2002 to December 2004.
