Meredith Garofalo is an American meteorologist working for WBNS 10 News as a meteorologist and science/space correspondent on 10TV News This morning. She was promoted to that role in May 2025 after working as a freelance meteorologist for 9 months.

Garofalo joined Valparaiso University in 2004 after finishing her high school education. In 2008, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology. While in college, she was involved with Kappa Delta Sorority, the Valparaiso University Storm Intercept Team, The Source 95.1 FM, and the National Weather Association Local Chapter.

Garofalo launched her TV career in 2008, with experience across the U.S. stemming from her internship at WGN-TV in Chicago. She was a meteorologist at local TV stations in New York, Ohio, South Dakota, Florida, and California. Also, she worked nationally with WeatherNation.

Garofalo, an accomplished reporter, broadcast rocket launches at Vandenberg Space Force Base & Cape Canaveral and some of NASA’s biggest accomplishments. Also, she did in-depth special reports and features on NOAA’s GOES-R and JPSS satellite series. She has held interviews with astronauts on the International Space Station and a couple of top scientists and leaders of the space and science community.
Garofalo was the only meteorologist and news journalist to travel with the GOES-17 satellite on the C-5M Super Galaxy from Colorado to Florida in 2017. In 2021, she had a one-on-one with the director of the National Weather Service on his retirement following 50 years.
Aside from her meteorology work, Garofalo is an accomplished actor and singer. She rose to prominence for performing the National Anthem for the Denver Broncos, Pittsburgh Pirates, Cleveland Guardians, and Brooklyn Cyclones. She led the crowd in New York, New York” as a guest performer for the New York Islanders. Also, she played Rizzo in the Manatee Performing Arts Center’s production of “Grease.”
Awards
The Cleveland native has been recognized over the last decade with honors like the inaugural Valparaiso University Alumni Association First Decade Achievement Award. She also received the Long Island Business News and New York City TV Week “40 Under 40” Award.
Garofalo earned a Regional Edward R. Murrow Excellence in Innovation Award while she was working in the New York City market at News 12 with two special reports in “Saving Our Shores.” Saving Our Shores is a special report that sheds light on the effects of climate change across the Tri-State region. Her life-saving broadcast of the Long Island Tornado Outbreak in 2021 and science reporting earned her several Fair Media Council Folio and Press Club of Long Island awards.
Community Work
Besides her broadcasting work, Garofalo is a frequent panel moderator at the Space Symposium and Satellite Conference. Moreover, she spends many hours doing career, school, motivational talks, and podcasts to help motivate women to pursue STEM/space careers and inspire the future generations.
Garofalo serves as a panel moderator and an emcee for events. Also, she conducts interviews to further storytelling on space and science topics. She is excited to participate in and support non-profits and local organizations across central Ohio! Also, she worked as a judge for the Space Foundation’s Space Technology Hall of Fame.
Garofalo and her dance partner clinched the 2017 local version of “Dancing with the Stars” in Santa Barbara. In this capacity, she helped raise money for the Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation. That same year, she was voted the Make-A-Wish Tri-Counties’ “Community Partner of the Year” for her hosting work on-air airline miles drives at KEYT-TV and adopting a Make-A-Wish kid, collecting funds through a local “Salsa Festival” competition.
