The Bloomsburg native decided to pursue meteorology after the historic blizzard of 1993 grabbed his attention. He enjoys the challenge of forecasting in Central Pennsylvania. Also, he loves that the region experiences a diverse climate where anything can happen, from tornadoes to blizzards.
Besides his broadcasting work, Thackara also teaches meteorology to students at Harrisburg University. He is also an MC and host of speaking engagements about the weather or his work at ABC27. His mornings are busy and enjoyable as he helps deliver the Midstate’s most accurate local forecast, along with some entertainment.
