Ginger Renée Colonomos Zuidgeest, also known by her pseudonym Ginger Zee, is an American TV personality, climate correspondent, and meteorologist working for ABC News as chief meteorologist and chief climate correspondent. Before her promotion in 2011, she served the network as a weekend meteorologist. She served the network as the managing editor of the climate unit from October 2021 to October 2023.

She has published five books, including the bestseller “Natural Disaster” in 2017 and her memoir, “A Little Closer to Home: How I Found the Calm After the Storm” in 2022. Moreover, she and her husband, Ben, appeared in DIY Network’s “Renovation Realities: Ben & Ginger.” She also created and hosted the original digital series “Food Forecast.”

Zee also served as an adjunct professor at the University from 2008 to 2011. Over the course of her career, Zee has received Emmy and Murrow Awards. In this capacity, she paraglided from the Himalayas to the Andes, went parahawking in Nepal, hiked the largest cave in the world in Vietnam, flown a drone into the fissure of a volcano in Iceland, rappelled 27 stories down the exterior facade of the Wit Hotel in Chicago, gone diving with sharks in the Bahamas, and explored the 275 waterfalls of Iguazú Falls in Argentina and the Victoria Falls in Africa. She has also gone ice boat racing, skydiving, and surfing live on “GMA.”
Aside from her work in weather and climate, Zee serves as the co-host of the ABC weekend show “Hearts of Heroes.” Hearts of Heroes highlights first responders. Additionally, she has hosted multiple climate specials for ABC News Live.
