Taylor Freeman Biography

Taylor Freeman is an American journalist working for KOMU 8 News as a news anchor since joining the station in July 2021. Previously, she worked as a teacher assistant at University of Missouri-Columbia.

Freeman joined Arizona State University in 2010 after finishing high school. In 2015, she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Film & Media Production. While in college, she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta. She was also a video producer for BuzzFeed.

Freeman was a video producer and editor for REstyleSOURCE and World of Beer Franchising, Inc. She furthered her studies at the University of Missouri-Columbia in August 2020, where she graduated with a Master’s degree in Broadcast Journalism in May 2022.

On April 10, 2022, she posted herself on her Instagram account and talked about her journey, captioning, “Ok, I’m finally ready to talk about it…Us queers who operate in gray areas of gender expression just want your kindness, not judgement. I’m still the same me I’ve always been, just with less boob and a much reduced risk of breast cancer…It hurts to become, but it is worth the journey.” In the post, she shared that she had always felt her breasts didn’t belong on her body.

Though she feels feminine and has experienced life as a woman, Freeman felt her chest was out of place. She maintained that, though she wanted to remain female, she felt happier with her body and that the surgery saved her life.
