While in Raleigh, he reported for the station and filled in on the anchor desk. He also won two Emmy Awards for his broadcast of the fatal shooting on UNC’s campus in 2023 and an EF-3 tornado that devastated a local Pfizer plant.
Before working in North Carolina, Thomas worked as a reporter, fill-in anchor, and multimedia journalist at WRIC-TV ABC 8News in Richmond and at WTAJ-TV in State College, where he learned to embrace the cold.
