Abigail Bimman Biography

Abigail Bimman is a Canadian correspondent who is working at Global News as the Ottawa-based Correspondent. She joined the Global News Ottawa, Ontario, Canada team in November 2017. 

Abigail Bimman Career

Bimman works at Global News where he serves as the Ottawa-based Correspondent. Not long ago, she worked at CTV’s local investigative unit and was based in Kitchener. She has also served as a weekend anchor and producer for a period of five years. In addition, while she worked at CTV,  the Canadian Association of Journalists (CAJ) in the form of two awards recognizing her work as an investigative journalist. One of her awards was for her 2017 coverage of an unregistered nurse employed in a nursing home. Her other award was for a 2013 in-depth look at life behind bars at the Grand Valley Institution for Women.

Furthermore, she was granted rare access to get inside the prison and produce another five-part series that gave viewers an understanding of what goes on at the biggest women’s prison in the country the controversial segregation cells where two inmates have died, and a look inside maximum security. In addition, for her feature stories, she was awarded two RTDNA awards; for a group of “calendar girls” at a retirement home who stripped down for a creative fundraiser and another for a teen’s journey after a brain injury.

In 2015, she was among the team that was awarded an RTDNA Best Newscast award for federal election night coverage. Abigail’s career history also includes; Rogers TV (York Region), CHEX TV (Oshawa), CTV Ottawa, and CTV News Channel. Additionally, she reported for the Canadian Jewish Newson children’s summer camps in Ukraine. By holding public officials to account, she earned a well-deserved reputation and led to changes in government policy.

Furthermore, she is a volunteer with the Sarah and Chaim Neuberger Holocaust Education Centre and is an avid reader, world traveler, and theatre lover.
