Alby Oxenreiter Biography
Alby Oxenreiter is an American journalist working for WPXI as the sports director. One of Pittsburgh’s longest-running, he also serves the station as the main sports anchor for Channel 11 News, and Channel 11 News on Fox 53 at 10 pm. He joined the station in January 2006 and has served the station for more than 1 and a half decades.
Alby Oxenreiter Education
Oxenreiter attended Villanova University after completing his high school education at Mt. Lebanon High School. When he finished his studies, he became a graduate and attained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications.

Oxenreiter works for WPXI as the sports director. One of Pittsburgh’s longest-running, he also serves the station as the main sports anchor for Channel 11 News, and Channel 11 News on Fox 53 at 10 pm. He joined the station in January 2006 and has served the station for more than 1 and a half decades.
His sports TV career started when he worked in Grand Junction, Colorado. He worked in Harrisburg and in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton as a sports anchor and reporter. Before WPXI, he worked for both WTAE and WPGH as an anchor and reporter for Pittsburgh Sports.
His round of golf with Latrobe native and world icon, Arnold Palmer, serves among his memorable stories. He broadcasted the Steelers in Super Bowls XXX, XL, XLIII, and XLV, the past six playoff appearances by the Pirates, three Stanley Cup Championships by the Penguins, and multiple golf major championships.
Awards and Nominations
During his career, he has attained four Golden Quill awards from the Pittsburgh Press Club, many awards from the Associated Press, and a Mid-Atlantic Emmy Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement/Sports Reporting.
He has been nominated for over 24 Regional Emmys. The Villanova Communication Honor Society was awarded the “Ethos Award.” His high school alma mater, Mount Lebanon High School, honored him with the “Great Alumni Award” and the “Cardinal Wright Award” from the Bishop’s Latin School.
Volunteering
Active with the Multiple Sclerosis Service Society, Oxenreiter also serves its affiliated charity, United Cerebral Palsy. Further, he serves the UCP/Class on their Advisory Board. Oxenreiter serves as the host of the yearly Alby Oxenreiter Golf Classic to benefit the MSSS.
Annually, he serves as the emcee for the Golden Apple Awards dinner and MC for the North Side Friends and Neighbors Sports Gala benefiting Cardinal Wright Regional School on Pittsburgh’s North Side. He works as a member of the “Champions Committee” of the Heinz History Center’s Western Pennsylvania Sports Museum.
Oxenreiter co-authored “Sports Memories of Western Pennsylvania.” Previously, he has served organizations such as
