Alex started his broadcasting career as a web producer before later working as a multimedia journalist at KUJH-TV in Lawrence. During his time there, he covered various sports events including the 2017, 2016, and 2015 NCAA tournaments. For his coverage, he was honored by the Kansas Association of Broadcasters as the best reporter.
Earlier, Alex served as a production assistant at Niles Media Group from August 2012 to May 2014. He also assisted in the coverage of the NAIA Basketball National Championship in 2014. On top of this, McLoon also served as a play-by-play commentator at Norm Stewart Classic basketball and high school games. His remarkable story includes the story of a woman who fell into a coma for three months during the COVID-19 pandemic. His husband started planning for the funeral but by the grace of the lord, she recovered and returned home.
