Ali Velshi Biography

Ali Velshi is a Canadian award-winning business correspondent and senior economic working at NBC News. He is also the host of his own show Simply Velshi at MSNBC.

Velshi graduated in Religious Studies from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, in 1994. Velshi joined the business news channel CNN in September 2001 in New York City. He served as an anchor of several shows including Street Sweep, Insights, Your Money, and Business Unusual. In addition to that, he also served as the co-host of The Money Gang with Pat Kiernan prior to the network closing down in December 2004.

He was then reassigned to the main CNN network where he served as a business reporter and anchor of CNN’s early-morning program Daybreak. He also hosted a reality television show called The Turnaround for 13 hours in 2005.
