Gomez figured out what she wanted to do and who she wanted to be at a very young age. She knew that she wanted her voice to be heard, Gomez was holding a hairbrush or whatever she could find pretending it was a microphone. In college her ambition became clear and she channeled her passion for writing at Salisbury University in Maryland. She later graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and also landed her first job in local news.

Her next job opportunity was in Jacksonville, Florida as a reporter covering everything from natural disasters to government accountability.

While in Jacksonville, Florida she won her first Emmy award for coverage of a murder trial then moved to to Hartford, Connecticut to work as an anchor, she anchored weekend mornings and helped launch the consumer investigative unit. She worked with people who have been wronged and fought to make things right and it is also where she became a mother.

Gomez later got another great opportunity in San Francisco, California where she showed her skills anchoring on weekend evenings and reported during the week, she covered the destructive Wine Country fires, California’s deadliest wildfire in Paradise, homelessness, and the impact of lead poisoning on children in Oakland.

She loved the connection she had with the community while working in California, such a culturally vibrant community led to the fulfilling work she did with the Golden State Warriors Community Foundation.

When she moved to the Bay Area, her family became bigger with the birth of her baby girl. She later left Bay Area where she was working as an anchor at KTVU and took another great job opportunity working as the main anchor at the Nexstar Station KCPQ.
