Amber Sut Biography

Amber Sullins is an American five-time Emmy Award-winning Chief Meteorologist working at ABC15 News. She joined the ABC15 News team in September 2009 from Southwest, she serves as a Chief Meteorologist. Sullins was previously working at KVIA-TV in El Paso, Texas.

She had a love for the monsoon since she was young, which led her to pursue a career in Meteorology. Sullins graduated from the University of Arizona in Tucson. she attained a Bachelor of Science degree in Atmospheric Science with a minor in Math, and also a minor in Journalism.

While she was there at the University of Arizona, she was working at the National Weather Service. she has remained connected to her alma mater by currently serving on the advisory board for the Hydrology and Atmospheric Science Department. Sullins started her television job at KVIA-TV in El Paso, Texas.

Sullins currently works at ABC15 where she serves as the Chief Meteorologist and anchors the weather nightly on the ABC15 Newscast. She regularly updates the most accurate Valley forecast on ABC15.com and ABC15 Mobile. Sullins has spent her whole life in the beautiful Southwest. She was highly regarded with two back-to-back Texas Associated Press Broadcasters Awards for being the Best Weathercasts in 2007 and 2008. later she was identified at the Texas Legislature for these awards in May 2009  when a house resolution was passed in her honor.

Sullins sacrificed her time to help the endeavor of the El Paso Extreme Weather Task Force. She tutored two semesters of meteorology classes at The University of Texas-El Paso Center for Lifelong Learning. Sullins wrote a weather activities book to assist teach young children about severe weather safety.

She has gained the American Meteorological Society’s Certified Broadcast Meteorologist designation. This is the highest seal a television meteorologist can acquire. Sullins is also a five-time Emmy Winner. In addition, was honored in 2010, 2013, and 2014 with the Rocky Mountain Emmy for Best Weathercast, additionally the 2013 and 2016 Emmys for best On-Camera Weather Talent.

During the summer of 2011, she was called on to go to New York and fill in on Good Morning America there she reported the biggest heatwave of the year across the east coast. Since then she has filled in on Good Morning America various times. During her downtime, she enjoys spending time with her husband, two children, and her long-haired miniature dachshunds, Willis and Lilly.
