Andrew Chang Biography

Andrew Chang is a Canadian Host/Reporter working with CBC News in Toronto where he serves the station as a co-host for The National alongside Adrienne Arsenault. He is the Canadian Screen Award-Winning host of CBC Vancouver News at 6.

Andrew Chang Career

Chang works with CBC News where he serves the station as a host for The National. He has previously spent time working as a host chair for other network shows such as CBC Radio One’s The Current and CBC News Now. Prior to making his way to Vancouver, he spent a whole decade working with CBC Montreal working as a co-host of CBC Montreal’s supper-time newscast. He is a proud graduate of Carleton University where he graduated with a degree in journalism.

Asides from this, he has also covered a number of memorable moments in Montreal’s history such as Montreal’s 2011 federal election night special, which saw the unprecedented rise of the NDP in the province, and the resulting collapse of the Bloc Québécois. He has also covered the 2012 election-night assassination attempt of Pauline Marois and was also the first, among local English networks, to tell Montrealers about the assassination of mafia godfather Niccolo Rizzuto Senior.

Previously, he has worked as one of CBC’s chief staff reporters covering breaking news at both the local and network level: from the Dawson College shootings and the collapse of the de la Concorde overpass in Laval. Asides from this, he has covered a month-long stint on the Parti Québécois campaign bus during the 2008 provincial election.

At that time, he was also working as a video journalist where he was interviewing various newsmakers, reporting, and writing. He was also editing and shooting the videos. Having a camera on his shoulder, he spent years producing both news-length and feature-length reports. The years 2014, 2016, 2020, and 2022 saw him being a member of CBC’s broadcast team for the Olympic Games. Away from work, he enjoys spending time with his family.  Asides from this, he loves hiking and indulging in one of his many passions: music, and snowboarding.
