He started as a reporter at WQEQ-EXPX, the Hazleton Area Radio Station, in 1982. He worked his way up and eventually became the WQEQ-EXPX’s news director. Simultaneously, he served a regional newspaper as a reporter.
Besides broadcasting, Mehalshick is heavily involved with the community. In this capacity, he has participated in many fund-raising occasions, including hosting the American Cancer Society and Help Hand Telethons since 1985. One of his missions includes protecting children and has presented his awarded “Stranger Danger Program” to thousands of kids since 1994.
