Andy Pepper is an American journalist working for WWMT Newschannel 3 as the sports director since January 2015. He joined the station in 2007 and has served the station for more than 15 years. Before his role as sports director, he served the station as a reporter and weekend anchor for nearly eight years.

Pepper’s career started when he served WBOC in Salisbury, Maryland. He started out as a videographer, and spent several months reporting, before earning the promotion to work as a weekend sports anchor. Next, he served WBRZ in Baton Rouge, Louisiana as a sports reporter for 3 years. Even though he didn’t like eating crawfish, he loved Mardi Gras, N’awlins, and discovering just how insane SEC football fans are.

During his career, Pepper has received a number of awards and honors. For example, he has received five Associated Press Awards for Best Sports Feature and three Edward R. Murrow awards. Moreover, he has attained an Emmy for Best Sports-News Feature and Associated Press and Michigan Association of Broadcasters (MAB) awards for Best Sportscast.

Pepper serves the Kalamazoo Salvation Army on its advisory board and the Kalamazoo Humane Society on its fundraising board. Each February, he partakes in the Polar Plunge and has garnered over $40,000 since 2009 for the Michigan Special Olympics(he hopes to raise $100,000).

Each November, Pepper holds an “18-hour Bell Ringing Marathon” in hopes of raising awareness for the need for volunteer Salvation Army bell ringers during the holiday season. He has emceed the yearly Kalamazoo Summer Stroll for Epilepsy, the West Michigan Congenital Heart Walk, and the Walk to Defeat ALS.
