Sabella attended Michigan State University in September 2007 after completing his high school education. When he finished his studies in May 2012, he became a graduate and attained a Bachelor Of Arts degree in Journalism. During much of his first year at the station, he broadcasted the COVID-19 pandemic highlighting local restaurants’ struggles to survive government limits. The Michigan native worked at WILX (NBC/FOX) in Lansing after completing his undergraduate studies.
Next, he worked in Flint at WJRT (ABC) for 2 years where he thoroughly broadcasted the city’s lead water calamity. His broadcast helped earned the station an Emmy and regional Edward R. Murrow award. In 2015, the Associated Press of Michigan named him the Rising Star in television news.
He earned an Emmy nomination and in 2022 Virginias Associated Press Broadcasters awarded him their award for “Best Multimedia Journalist.” In Coastal Virginia Magazine’s “Best Of” awards! he was voted “Best Local TV News Reporter.”
During his free time, he enjoys the beach life and restaurant alongside his wife and dog. Also, he loves residing in Hamptons Roads. Passionate about music, he serves on the Hampton Roads Board of Governors for the Virginia Opera.
