Ariel Plasencia is an American multi-skilled journalist who is working at WFAA in Dallas, Texas. There she specializes in general assignment reporting.

Ariel Plasencia Education

Plasencia joined York Community High School in 2005 and graduated in 2009. Later on, in September 2011, she joined  Instituto Internacional where she studied her Spanish Study Abroad Program. In 2013, she joined Georgetown University where she graduated with a  Master of Professional Studies, in Journalism 2015. In addition, she also attended Northwestern University in 2009, where she studied Mathematics and Spanish and in 2013, she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Spanish.

She worked at Twlwmundo from January 2012 to March 2012 and while she was at the station, she served as a research programming intern. Later in April 2012, she joined The Daily Northwestern where she served as a sports beat writer.

While she worked at The Daily Northwestern, she; wrote campus and city articles, including one on the competitiveness of becoming a Northwestern tour guide, interviewed coaches and players and took photos during games to supplement articles, interviewed coaches and players and took photos during games to supplement articles, and covered women’s basketball during winter 2013, women’s soccer in the fall of 2012, and men’s baseball during Spring in 2012.

In addition, she joined WCIU in January 2012, where she was also an intern for You & Me This Morning. While Plasencia worked at the station she; developed ideas for trivia segments, assisted the floor director in the studio, designed and added graphics and catchy headlines to live shows, managed daily rundowns in iNews, and entered segment information.

She joined WUSA-TV in September 2014 where she was an intern. While she was at the station, she interviewed players in the locker room and after practice, shot stand-ups for packages, assisted reporters and photographers during interviews and live shots, and logged games and cut highlights in Edius for newscasts.

Furthermore, Ariel has worked at WITN-TV in Greenville, North Carolina where she served as a noon anchor and MMJ. While working there, she; delivered live reports during the 5, 5:30, and 6 p.m. newscasts using a TVU, anchored weekend and weekday morning shows, as well as the evening newscasts, as needed, and anchored WITN News at noon, Monday through Friday. Later in April 2017, she left the station.

Ariel joined WCNC-TV in Charlotte, North Carolina Area where she served as a multi-media journalist and morning reporter. she also Edited sound and created graphics for morning show live hits before driving to live location, filled in as anchor and traffic reporter when needed, and delivered live reports every 30 minutes for Wake Up Charlotte, often on lead story. After working at the station for one year and eleven months, she left the station in February 2019.

During her leisure time, she enjoys watching sports, especially her Chicago teams: Bears, Bulls, Cubs, Hawks, and Cats. She also enjoys going on road trippers with her husband, eating delicious food, and spending ample time with her family.
