Ashley Michels is an American journalist working for FOX 31 Denver and Channel 2 News as an anchor and reporter. She joined the station in April 2014 as a reporter and has served the station for over a decade.

Michels joined Northern Illinois University in August 2007 after finishing her high school education. In August 2011, she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism, English, and International Politics.

From a young age, Michels knew that she wanted to relocate to Colorado, even though she had never been to the state. She fell in love with Denver when she came to Littleton to broadcast Illinois’ former Governor Rod Blagojevich’s report to prison.
Michels says the “Wheel of Fortune” game show launched her into broadcast television. As a freshman in high school, she was chosen to appear on the show, and after taping the show, a producer told her she should be on TV for a living. She took the advice to heart and decided to major in broadcast journalism in college.
Away from the anchor desk, Michels is passionate about travel. She has lived in Ireland, Australia, and Peru. She has backpacked to Europe and New Zealand and dreams of visiting Iceland, South Africa, and Central America. Moreover, she is a little more than halfway to her goal of visiting all 50 U.S. states.
