Ashley Smith is an American News Anchor, currently working as co-anchor of 13News Now Daybreak, from 4:30 to 7:00 a.m, and 13News Now at Noon.

Ashley is the Music Director at Chesapeake’s New Galilee Missionary Baptist Church. She earned an M.A. in Journalism from Regent University after completing her undergraduate studies at Old Dominion University, where she earned a B.S. in Communication.

She also contributes stories to the Making A Mark franchise on 13News Now, highlighting inspirational moments and people in Hampton Roads. Ashley is the host of 13News Now’s community outreach show, ‘Coastal Connections.’ She joined the Daybreak team in 2013 as a Traffic Reporter and was nominated for a regional Emmy Award for transportation/traffic reporting in 2017. Ashley worked as a freelance reporter and anchor for WCTV Chesapeake Television before joining 13News Now.

Ashley is the President of Hampton Roads Black Media Professionals, Inc., a National Association of Black Journalists affiliate chapter. She also serves on the board of ‘Here for the Girls,’ a non-profit dedicated to improving the lives of young women affected by breast cancer. Ashley has served as a keynote speaker for a variety of organizations, including services, schools, and community programs. Ashley competed in beauty pageants for seven years. Most notably, she was named the Miss United States of America in 2011. That year, she traveled approximately 25,000 miles, made over 235 appearances, and promoted her breast cancer awareness platform. Miss Virginia United States 2011, Miss Hampton Roads 2010, Miss Chesapeake 2009, Miss Norfolk 2008, Miss Virginia Peanut 2007, and Miss Virginia Beach 2006, in addition to the Miss United States 2011.
