Asia Cymone Smith is an American journalist working for KSN as a weekend sports anchor and reporter since November 2023. She joined the station in January 2023 as a news and sports multimedia journalist. Previously, she was a college basketball production assistant at ESPN in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Asia Cymone Smith Education
Cymone joined San Diego State University in 2017 when she finished her high school education. In 2021, she graduated with a Bachelor Of Arts degree in Communications. While there, she served as an All-American heptathlete for Aztecs Track and Field. In this role, she was a two-time Mountain West Team Champion and the 2020 Mountain West Indoor Pentathlon Champion.
Cymone also worked as the president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. In 2021, she was named SDSU’s Female Student-Athlete of the Year. In 2019 she held a morning news production internship at FOX 5 San Diego.
A month after graduating from San Diego University, she joined the University of Florida where she received her Master Of Arts degree in Mass Communications. While in Florida, Cymone was a member of the Gators women’s track and field team which won the Indoor and Outdoor NCAA Championships in 2022.
Cymone has also worked with ESPN Gainesville and Gators Athletics where she reported trending sports on the radio and wrote about college and professional sports in North Florida. She was the anchor of the Gators’ Lacrosse Halftime Show and has created numerous stories on different sports topics.

At ESPN, Cymone worked on various games and studio shows in Queen City, edited highlights, and created content ideas for the air. She also went to ACC Media Days where she assisted in gathering behind-the-scenes footage for viewers to know their favorite players. This was one of her favorite memories.
While growing up, Cymone was a sideline and competitive cheerleader for 12 years. She completed her cheerleading career with the California All-Stars Lady Bullets as a finalist at the Cheerleading World Championship. Next, she started her nine-year track and field tenure.
Cymone has held numerous pageant titles, most recently, Miss Black Global 2021. In 2016, she made history by being crowned Miss Greater San Diego Teen USA, making her the initial African American crowned in the pageant’s 35-year history.
