Barbara Morse Biography

Barbara Morse is an American journalist working for WJAR-TV – NBC 10 in Providence, Rhode Island serving as a health check anchor/reporter.  She has been working with the station since June 1995.

Morse works at WJAR-TV – NBC 10 in Providence, Rhode Island where she serves as an anchor on Saturday and Sunday evenings. Prior to joining WJAR–TV–NBC, she served as a weekend general assignment reporter for WISH-TV in Indianapolis. Before, Barbara worked at WLVI-TV in Boston,  where she served as a television news anchor/reporter.

Additionally, she had spent some years serving as a general assignment reporter for WLNE-TV in Providence. Moreover, Morse came to WLNE-TV from WAND in Decatur, Illinois,  where she served as a news reporter. Previously, Barbara worked at KOLD-TV in Tucson, Arizona where she served as a news reporter.

Furthermore, Barbara was also inducted into Sciences in New England in 2019 for her distinguished service in television for more than 25 years and into the prestigious Silver Circle by the National Academy of Arts. Additionally, she won an Associated Press Award for her coverage of the shaken baby syndrome in 2008.

Morse also received Emmy nominations in 1993, 1999, 2001, 2008, and 2014. Moreover, she has been awarded numerous honors from organizations such as The Tomorrow Fund, the Rhode Island Blood Center, A Wish Come True, and the Rhode Island Black Nurses’ Association. Other organizations include  Hospice Care of Rhode Island, Visiting Nurse Service of Greater Rhode Island, and The Rhode Island Black Historical Society, Home.

Morse is very active in the community, spending much of her downtime volunteering for nonprofit organizations in our area. In addition to that, she is the immediate past president of the Southern New England Association of Black Journalists. Barbara is also a member of the National Association of Black Journalists. Furthermore, Morse graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in speech communications from Indiana University. In her leisure time, she loves to write, exercise, read, and hang out with her family.
