Ben Barnes Biography
Ben Barnes is a British actor and singer who was born on August 20th, 1981, in southwest London. He is the son of Patricia Becker, a relationship therapist, and Thomas Barnes, a psychiatrist and professor.
He has a younger brother, Jack. Barnes attributes his formative experiences to his Jewish upbringing in South Africa, his scientific upbringing, and his attendance at what he considered to be a “vaguely Christian” school where he “liked the hymns.”
Barnes attended two boys’ independent schools: King’s College School in Wimbledon and Homefield Preparatory School in Sutton He sang in choirs and played percussion in jazz and concert bands at King’s.
He joined the National Youth Music Theatre in 1997 to begin his career in musical theater. At the age of sixteen, he performed for the first time as a drummer in the West End musical adaptation of Bugsy Malone.
He spent two years prior to attending college singing, presenting on television, and collaborating with entertainment svengali Simon Fuller to open a jazz club and produce an album, both of which were never realized.
After that, Barnes went to Kingston University to study English literature and drama, where he appeared in and directed productions like Don Juan, The Golden Age, Exposure, and The Zoo Story. He was awarded the English Prize for his essays on Harry Potter and The Hobbit themes.

He briefly joined the boyband Hyrise while working on intense acts like The Ragged Child, The Dreaming, Loving Ophelia, Sex Chip, and Rock ‘N’ Roll at the theater. Hyrise performed Leading Me On in A Song For Europe 2004 to find the UK’s Eurovision entry.
He was the first drama student at the university to earn a First Class Honours degree, graduating from the university in 2004 with a BA in Drama and English Literature. He became the youngest of more than twenty distinguished alumni to be inducted into the university’s Wall of Fame in 2008, making him the most recent addition.

He began working on TV in 2006 and he had a guest appearance on the UK series, Doctors. He later joined the cast of a West End production of The History Boys. He made his film debut as young Dunstan Thorn in Stardust in 2007. In 2008, he starred as a Russian hoodlum called Cobakka in Bigga Than Ben.
He was Prince Caspian in The Chronicles of Nania: Prince Caspian in June 2008. He starred in Easy Virtue as John Whittaker in November 2008. He was the title character in Dorian Gray which was released in 2009.
He played Josh in the thriller, Locked In, which was released in September 2009. He replayed his role as Prince Caspian in The Chronicles of Nania: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. In April 2011, he played Neil McCormick in Killing Bono.
He played a young American soldier in the movie The Words which was released in September 2012. He then played Alejandro in The Big Wedding, a remake of the original 2006 French film Mon frère se Marie (My Brother is getting married) released in April 2013.
He was Nick Torlano, a mafia boss, in the 2014 movie, By the Gun. He played Tom Ward in the movie, Seventh Son. He played Sam Adams in January 2015 in the movie Sons of Liberty. He played Ryan Brenner in the romantic drama, Jackie and Ryan.
He played Logan Delos in the remake of the 1973 film, Westworld in 2016. He then played Billy Russo, in the Netflix series, The Punisher in 2017.
He replayed his role as Logan Delos in season 2 of Westworld which aired in 2018. He then replayed his role in The Punisher in season 2 which aired in 2019. He portrays General Kirigan in the 2021 Netflix series, Shadow and Bone.
