Ben Handelman Biography

Ben Handelman is an American journalist serving as an anchor and reporter at Fox 6 in Milwaukee since April 2011. He has traveled across the state and the country as a reporter for Wisconsin’s largest newsroom.

After he was done with his high school education, Ben attended and graduated from Quinnipiac University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism.

Handleman always wanted to be a professional storyteller and his first job opportunity was at ABC affiliate WICS in Springfield, Illinois. Then he got a promotion and was sent to sister station WICD in Champaign, Illinois and that is where Handleman met his wife Ashley. His determination and hard work have not gone unnoticed for he has gained recognition from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, Midwest Broadcast Journalists Association, Wisconsin Broadcasters Association, and the Milwaukee Press Club.

Handleman has traveled across the state and the country as a reporter and an anchor. He is serving as an anchor and reporter for the FOX 6 News team in April 2011. Handelman is thrilled to be at Milwaukee especially after he found a way to work with the love of his life and be on the same team at FOX 6. He reports and anchors every newscast from morning to night here in Milwaukee. He anchors weekend evening newscasts and reports for FOX6 news at nine and ten throughout the week.

Handelman has covered some huge stories from the Sikh Temple and Azana Salon shootings to the unrest in Sherman Park in 2016.  His work is really interesting from traveling across the country where he saw the destruction of an F-5 tornado in Oklahoma and the wreckage it left behind, and the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando.

He saw the resilience of officers who had to head back to work after five of their coworkers were killed in Dallas and also witnessed the Air Force One ushering for two different presidents. Ben has helped push cars stuck in the snow during several Wisconsin winters and walked with Brett Favre during his return to Lambeau Field.

When he is not busy working He enjoys jogging with his wife along the lakefront or attending one of the million festivals in our great home city. He loves blogging, he says that he is on a lifetime journey to sample as much Mexican food as he can find, and loves adventures.
