Bill Bellis Biography
Bill Bellis is an American meteorologist who is the chief meteorologist at FOX 32 News. Prior to joining FOX 32, Bellis worked at KNXV-TV in Phoenix, where he served as chief meteorologist for eight years.
Before that, Bellis served for four years as the weekend meteorologist at KPRC-TV in Houston. Earlier in his career, he was a meteorologist for KLFY-TV in Lafayette, La. Bellis attended the University of Arizona where she received her Bachelor of Science in Atmospheric Science with minors in math, physics, and hydrology.
His fascination with the weather started after his first ski trip to Stratton Mountain, VT. Bill constantly watched The Weather Channel looking for snowstorms in order to plan his ski trips. He was raised up on Long Island, NY, and attended Lycoming College (in Pennsylvania) for two years where he played Division III football. Bellis was a mechanical engineering major before transferring to the University of Arizona.
While at KNXV, he covered Hurricane Isabel, which made landfall just north of Virginia Beach. Additionally, he covered the aftermath of Katrina in Slidell, La., for three days. Bellis is a three-time Emmy Award winner. When he is not working, he loves visiting schools and teaching kids about the weather. He also loves to work out and is an avid skier.
