Bo Williams Biography
Bo Williams is an American journalist working for WATE as a morning news anchor since joining the station in July 2002. Previously, he worked as the sports director for WBRZ in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, from 1999 to 2002.

Williams works for WATE as a morning news anchor. Since joining the station, he has anchored breaking news from the field, co-anchored the 4 p.m. newscasts, produced morning radio news hits, and assembled er a weekly franchise piece called “Streetwise.” He has also mentored younger reporters, anchors and producers.
Williams has worked in the TV industry for over 35 years. His first job out of college was a weekend sportscaster position at WPDE-TV in the Florence/Myrtle Beach market in 1989. In 1991, he was promoted to sports director.
Following his time in Florence/Myrtle Beach, Williams moved to Charleston as the sports director for WCBD. After 7 years there, he joined WBRZ in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he worked as the sports director from 1999 to 2002. He loves local news because it allows him to get out into the community and find ways to either showcase or improve the city.
Over the course of his career, Williams has received multiple awards, including South Carolina Associated Press Awards, a Media General Circle of Excellence, and an Emmy Award for Best Newscast. He has also been featured in Gambit Weekly’s Best of Baton Rouge.
Williams chairs the Advisory Board for the John T. O’Connor Senior Center in Knoxville. He also volunteers his time as an MC for many events for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. He previously served as a Cub Scout Den Leader and youth soccer coach.
