Bob Slovak is a well-known American Award-winning Journalist working for ABC13 as a Reporter/Content Creator. He joined ABC13 in 1998. In addition, he is an adjunct professor at The University of Houston. He is a media personality with a demonstrated history of working in the broadcast media industry. He is skilled in Non-linear Editing, Journalism, and Social Media. There, he covered everything from the birth of the Texans to the Rockets’ high expectations to the Astros World Series runs, Pros, College, High School, and Little League he loves it. The two favorite sporting events he has covered are the Astros winning Game 7 of the World Series in LA and watching Vince Young score the winning TC against USC in the Rose Bowl.
Bob has always had a strong passion for sports from his little days as a Little Leaguer through high school. He now brings his passion to ABC13’s programming/special projects department as the team’s Premium Content Multi-Skilled Reporter. In addition to his reporting career at ABC13, he is an Adjunct Professor at the Jack Valenti School of Communication at the University of Houston. He has been serving in this position since January 2021. There, he is able to pass along his more than three decades of broadcast knowledge and connect with the students a rewarding plus to his career. From April 2021 to August 2021, he was a Client Relationship Manager at iSphere.
There, he was recruited to help establish a public and private sector practice in information technology consulting and management services, led strategic planning and tactical execution for market and revenue growth, aligning business development with overall goals, among others. Prior to joining ABC13 News in 1998, he worked as a Sports Anchor/Reporter at ABC15. KNXV-TV from 1995 to 1998. From 1992 to 1995, he worked for KOTV – The News On 6 as a Sports anchor/reporter. He began his broadcasting career at KTEN-TV, in Ada, Oklahoma. Because of his exemplarity in his work, he has been honored with Associated Press, Emmy, and Edward R. Murrow Awards.
