Trendy began his career by buying the goods and fixtures of a discount store that was going out of business and reselling the fixtures. He rented a store of his own on a 25-year lease, and opened his own store called “Fuel”. After two years, the landlord wanted to sell the building and agreed to pay Muro $50K to terminate the lease.

Muro took on the name Bobby Trendy, rented a store in West Hollywood on the corner of La Cienega Boulevard and Melrose Avenue, and signed another 25-year lease. The television station KTLA included him in a feature about decorating for their morning show.

The University of Southern California then hired him to make 100 sofas and chairs for their new student building for Parkside International Residential College. The Grove of Anaheim hired him to decorate a theatre, which was his first order over $500K.

Anna Nicole Smith hired Trendy to decorate her new house on her television show The Anna Nicole Show. About how he got on the show, Trendy has said “listen, and listen good. They saw me on E!’s Celebrity Homes, and they knew that I was deep”. After the death of Smith in 2007, Trendy made his store into a museum.

He has also appeared on Lifetime’s Merge TV series on decorating, Nancy Grace, Dr. Phil, Hannity & Colmes, The Howard Stern Show, Yes, Dear, VH1’s How’d You Get So Rich? with Joan Rivers, The Fabulous Life of on VH1, and Celebrity’s Homes on E!, and in 2013 he appeared in an episode of The Ben Show with Ben Hoffman on Comedy Central.
