Brandon Cruz Biography
Brandon Cruz is an American Sports Anchor/Reporter working for Fox 6 News in Milwaukee. He has been working for the station since joining in 2009.
Brandon Cruz Education
Cruz had a passion for sports from the young age of 8 years. He was watching baseball with Vin Scully as the sportscaster of the game, Cruz wanted to feel the urge to be there as a player or a Broadcaster. He wanted so much to be like Scully. Scully was the broadcaster for all the big games during his youth. Brandon did every possible book report he was assigned on sports, athletes, or broadcasters in schools. When he went to high school his determination went on and he became a writer for “The Amadon”, the newspaper for Amador Valley High School in Pleasanton, CA. He later became the sports editor for the paper.
After high school, Brandon brought his talents to Southern California and Long Beach State University where he was given his first big break by his uncle, award-winning sports anchor Gary Cruz. Gary took up a job at KCAL and he gave Brandon an opportunity to intern and learn from the best sportscaster. He even got to meet Scully in person. While he was at KCAL he worked hard and moved up the ranks and was producing sports, covering many of the same athletes he did reports on as a child.
Brandon Cruz Career
After graduating Cruz was given an opportunity to work at KVEW-KAPP in the Tri-Cities, WA as a Sports director. He has worked in the sports department in Pocatello, ID, Colorado Springs, CO, and Denver, CO before coming to Milwaukee in 2006.
Cruz has covered the Packers, including Brett Favre’s final year with the green and gold, Brewer’s return to the playoffs for the first time since 1982, as well as their NLCS, runs in 2011 and 2018 in the Brew City. Covering basketball in that city was amazing, especially after the Bucks drafted Giannis Antetokounmpo as he has covered their playoff runs, including their 2019 Eastern Conference Finals appearance.
The Badgers Final Four experience, which ended in a loss in the NCAA Championship Game against Duke, was one of the most exciting experiences he was able to be a part of. Plus, the nearly annual chance to cover Marquette in the NCAA Tournament made for great stories.

In 2009 he got an opportunity from sports to the news side when he joined the FOX 6 family as a general assignment reporter. Cruz loved the new change and he has witnessed amazing changes in Wisconsin including the Packers Super Bowl run in 2011 the protests over Act 10 days later and the subsequent recall races to the wild weather they endured.
He has also covered the national political scene set and its sights on Wisconsin and he was able to sit down with the eventual Republican candidate, Mitt Romney. Not only that but he also told stories about former President Bill Clinton stumping for President Barack Obama and the President himself, making many stops in the state. In 2014 Cruz moved back to the sports section and he is currently working as a sports reporter at FOX 6. Cruz thanks Vin Scully for his Career till today.
