Bret Buganski Biography

Bret Buganski is an American anchor and reporter working for WCPO 9 as a weekend evening anchor and reporter. He joined WCPO 9 in August 2022, after previously working at KSNW-TV as a morning anchor and investigative reporter.  

Chicago, Illinois is his native home and He studied at Carthage College from 2003 to 2004. Later in 2005, he joined Columbia College Chicago where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in journalism in 2007. In his new career, he has worn many hats and a number of his career highlights include; the 2014 riots at Tucson’s Main Gate Square, the recall election of Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, the 2008 Mississippi River Flooding, field anchoring from Los Angeles for the 2015 NCAA West Regional Basketball Final, the Oak Creek Sikh Temple Tragedy in Wisconsin, covering Super Bowl XLIX, and former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich’s corruption trial.

In addition, he enjoys being outdoors and thus he loves exploring the Oklahoma City metro area and the beautiful scenery of the entire state. During his free time, he enjoys playing the electric guitar, watching and attending WWE events, and running long distances around Oklahoma City.
