Brian Conybeare is an American journalist working for WBND as a main anchor since joining the station in January 2018. Previously, he worked for CBS2 News in New York City as a general assignment reporter and fill-in anchor.

Conybeare joined the University of Michigan when he finished his high school education. He later graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Communications. He then joined New York University where he graduated with a Master’s degree in Journalism and Mass Communications.

Conybeare works for WBND as a main anchor. His reporting work has impacted the Michiana community. He exposed the racial divide in Benton Harbor and its “twin city” across the river, St. Joseph with a 2019 special series called “The River.” The series surveyed the deaths of six African American men whose bodies were located in the water separating the two communities.
Conybeare did a half-hour special titled “Love. Honor. Betrayal.” in 2020 which follows the love triangle killing of a U.S. Army soldier from Benton Harbor. The story won him a Chicago Emmy Award, his fourth Emmy overall and first at ABC57.
Previously, Conybeare worked for CBS2 News in New York City as a general assignment reporter and fill-in anchor. While there, he extensively reported on the terror attacks in New York, the 2016 presidential campaign, and consumer frauds. He also exclusively toured inside a disturbed nuclear power plant and New York’s booming medical marijuana industry.
Before working in New York, Conybeare worked on the New NY Bridge Project as a special advisor to restore the Tappan Zee Bridge over the Hudson River. The project cost $3.9 billion, making it the nation’s biggest infrastructure project at that time. He was the project’s spokesman where he hosted many meetings with residents, schools, and business groups to help them understand the project.
Conybeare works for News12 Westchester as the main anchor and managing editor. There, he won three New York Emmy Awards, five Edward R. Murrow Regional Awards, and a national award from the Society of Professional Journalists for his investigative reports.
During his career, Conybeare broadcasted big stories including the Pope’s 2008 visit to New York City and the 9/11 terror assaults. He exclusively investigated a parking ticket fraud involving a national car rental chain and manipulated promotional giveaways at the Yonkers Raceway Casino that prompted three arrests.
