Brian Hickey Biography

Brian Hickey is an American Reporter/Anchor working for KCRA 3 News where he serves the station as a General Assignment Reporter for the morning news. Prior to moving to Sacramento, he was working in Reno where he was serving KTVN as a Reporter and Anchor.

Hickey works with KCRA 3 News where he serves the station as a General Assignment Reporter for the Morning News. He states that while most people are still in bed, he is usually gathering overnight news which will affect viewers for the next day to come. During the winter months, he can be found hip-deep in the snow at Blue Canyon. Asides from this, during the hot summer months, he takes viewers to the fire lines to update progress on major wildland blazes that threaten traffic, homes, air quality, and traffic.

He happens to be a fifth-generation Nevadan who never thought he would leave the Silver State. Previously, he has also worked with KTVN News. This was his first job after his graduation from the University of Nevada. There, he obtained a degree in broadcast journalism.

While he was at UNR, he served two terms on the school senate and was also a skier on the Wolf Pack Ski Team. Hickey followed his wife to Sacramento in the year 2003 where she completed her residency at the U.C. Davis Medical Center. She states that their plan was to “escape” back to Reno as soon as she finished. He states that however, good friends, jobs, and all the reasons they love to call Sacramento persuaded them to make Sacramento home.
