To cap off a memorable season, they never lost a game and played their state championship game in Clemson’s Death Valley.

Brian’s interest in weather began in elementary school when he would pay attention to the clouds and the direction from which the weather would approach. He was naturally drawn to it but didn’t give it much thought until late in high school when the school guidance counselor asked him what he planned to do with the rest of his life. Fortunately, Brian’s eyes were opened by the counselor. Fortunately, that counselor opened Brian’s eyes to the possibility of attending college to study meteorology and learn about something he had always been interested in.

Because there were no meteorology programs in South Carolina, he looked at the major meteorology programs in the eastern United States. After taking a campus tour, Brian knew he wanted to attend North Carolina State University. It felt familiar. He is a proud graduate of North Carolina State University and still enjoys returning to see friends and family who live in the area.

Brian was a walk-on kicker for the North Carolina State football team for a couple of years before deciding to focus solely on his future career. He worked part-time and did internships to figure out which path he wanted to take in the meteorology field. Brian was extremely fortunate to be able to intern with the extremely talented meteorology team at Raleigh’s WRAL-TV. He went on to work briefly for the National Weather Service Headquarters in Washington, D.C. before deciding to return and try his hand at the TV side of the business.
