Brian North is an American journalist working for WCTI as the sports director. Additionally, he has worked as a news anchor since January 2008. He joined the station in September 1998 and has served the station for more than 2 decades. Previously, he worked as a weekend sports anchor and sports reporter for WHSV in Harrisburg.

During his sports career, North has broadcasted unforgettable events like the 2006 Carolina Hurricanes Stanley Cup Championship, the 2017 Little League World Series, multiple NCAA Basketball Final Fours, and the Carolina Panthers in two Super Bowls (SB 38 in Houston & SB 50 in San Francisco).

North has also broadcasted decades of ACC Basketball Tournaments, several U.S. Open Golf Tournaments in NC, baseball regionals and super regionals, lots of college bowl games, a heavyweight boxing championship in Madison Square Garden, and multiple Daytona 500s including the fatal day Dale Earnhardt passed away on the track.

North still gets goosebumps about seeing Payne Stewart hit the putt on the final hole to clinch the U.S. Open in 1999 while he was standing on the edge of the 18th green at Pinehurst. Further, he broadcasted the ECU football team as they regrouped in the 2nd half to trouble Miami in Raleigh while all of eastern North Carolina managed the Hurricane Floyd flooding.

Brian still gets chills thinking about standing on the edge of the 18th green at Pinehurst in 1999 and watching Payne Stewart hit the putt on the final hole to win the U.S. Open. And covering the ECU football team as they rallied in the 2nd half to upset Miami in Raleigh while all of eastern North Carolina was dealing with the flooding from Hurricane Floyd.

After graduating college, North secured his first TV job at WHSV in Harrisonburg, Virginia. There, he worked as a weekend sports anchor and sports reporter from 1992 to 1998. From 1994 to 1997, he hosted and produced the VMI Sports Magazine.
