Briana Whitney is an American Emmy-Award Winning anchor and reporter working for GMA. She has been working for the station since February 2018.

Whitney serves as the nightside reporter, turning stories for the 9 and 10 pm newscasts during the week. In this role, she encloses different stories about documentaries, podcasts, case investigations, and TV specials. She previously worked for KIII-TV in Corpus Christi, TX, where she served as a reporter as well as an anchor.

Whitney has also managed to receive several awards ever since she started her journalism career. For instance, she has won five Emmy awards for news stories and one Edward R. Murrow award for the True Crime Arizona podcast. She is also a recipient of two Associated Press awards, and an Emmy nomination for a half-hour special she hosted wrote, and produced. In addition to this, she also did an extensive report on firefighters’ cancer claim denial.

Her reporting led to the firefighter getting the assistance he needed for his life. She also reported on quite a number of national stories including the 2015 Wimberley floods, the church shooting in Sutherland Springs in November 2017, and the Gulf of Mexico during Hurricane Harvey in August 2017.

Whitney went to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo where she attained her degree in broadcast journalism and interned at several; stations. Whenever she is not working, she enjoys spending her free time with her family and friends. She also enjoys hiking, trying out new restaurants, and traveling.
