During her career, she has received Emmy awards for writing, breaking news, and instructional reporting. Also, she has received some regional Edward R. Murrow and Tennessee Associated Press awards. In 2021, she won a Regional Edward R. Murrow Award for a story about the hazards of drowning.
She finished a documentary that shed light on a piece of Tennessee history called “A Tennessee Waltz: Ray Blanton’s Last Dance.” The documentary follows hitmen liberated early from prison and what the FBI dubbed a “criminal enterprise” arising from Tennessee Governor Ray Blanton’s office, all in a trial to hide a pay-for-pardon scandal.
In 2005, she came to Knoxville from Tampa because of swimming. Also, she worked as a member of the Lady Volunteer swim team. In this role, she was named SEC Champion, seven-time NCAA All-American, and to the Academic All-American team.
Aside from her TV job, she works as a lecturer at the University of Tennessee School of Journalism and Media where she teaches TV news reporting. Moreover, she is a YWCA Knoxville and co-chairs the Tennessee Valley Keys of Hope. She works on the board of the Greater Knoxville Sports Hall of Fame.
