Butch Stearns is an American television and radio personality working for Boston 25 News serving as a Sports Anchor/Reporter. He is a long-time Boston sports personality and is also a regular show host on WEEI sports radio in Boston.

Butch Stearns Education

In 1978, Stearns earned his high school diploma from Braintree high school. He later furthered his studies at Stonehill College where he studied and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration with a major in marketing and communication in 1982.

Stearns is a Sports Anchor/Reporter at Boston 25 News. He began his television career as a producer for Bob Gamere on WLVI-TV’s Sunday night Weekend Scoreboard. He later moved to Minnesota where he worked for KAAL-TV as a sports anchor and producer of weekday sportscasts.

He hosted The Point After, a 30-minute Sunday show, and a one-hour Friday night broadcast that covered high school teams too. Apart from Television He also had an early start in Radio experience. His first one was at WDFN in Detroit Michigan From July 1994 – January 1996, he co-hosted The Morning Battery, first with former Major League pitcher Lary Sorensen and then later with Detriot Free Press reporter Keith Gave.

From 1994 to 1996 he also worked for Detroit’s Pass Sports. He then went to Boston in 1996 serving as a sports reporter for WABU. Butch was a color commentator for college football games, the field reporter for Boston Red Sox games, and the host of the Emmy award-winning 68 Sportsnight.

Butch also hosted New England Sports Network’s New England Golfer in 1997 before later joining WFXT as a sports reporter and weekend anchor in September 1999. He also worked as a part-time employee at WEEI, he joined WRNB radio as the host of Patriots Monday and the radio play-by-play announcer for the New England Revolution.  Stearns currently serves as the host of WEEI-FM’s Saturday afternoon show.

Stearns is currently serving as a sports Anchor and Reporter at Boston 25 News. He first joined the station in September 1999 as a sports reporter and weekend anchor. In 2001 he was promoted to main sports anchor after Levan Reid left. He made an appearance on the NFL on Fox in December 2004 as a sideline reporter for the New England Patriots’ week 17 match-up at Gillette Stadium against the San Francisco 49ers. On November 1 2009 he got his contract renewed by Boston 25.
