Lee Rosbach Biography

Lee Rosbach is an American Superyacht Captain, Author, and Tv personality who is best known for starring on Below Deck. He has spent more than two decades in the yachting industry.

He was born and raised in landlocked Michigan, where he discovered his untapped love for the water while managing restaurants in Turks & Caicos. It was then that an acquaintance invited him to serve as a mate on a sailboat delivery to earn extra cash. At 35, he got his Captain’s license and left the restaurant business behind to pursue his newfound passion.

Since that time, Captain Lee has commanded more than a dozen superyachts. Lovingly known as the “Stud of the Sea,” he values the special bonds he forms on deck and always puts the safety of everyone onboard above all else. In season 8, Captain Lee is excited to return to the Caribbean with his old friend, Bosun Eddie Lucas, as he adjusts to the many new personalities including his new Chief Stewardess.

Rosbach was born to his loving parents, Harold Rosbach (late father) and his mother whose names are unknown. His dad worked in the army during World War II. On April 12, in a sweet Instagram video shared, Captain Lee said, “We are celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary, so, honey…cheers!” while raising a glass to Mary Anne. Maty gave Captain Lee a big support when he made a decision to leave his career as a restaurant owner and pursue his passion as a captain.

Rosbach and his wife Mary are proud parents to their 5 children; four boys and a girl. Two of their sons have worked in the yachting industry. Their son, Sean, is actually a chef on a private yacht. One of Rosbach’s sons, Josh, sadly died at 42 years old following an opioid overdose.

This season marked the first time the series cruised around the Caribbean since Season 5. “It’s been years since I’ve been in the Caribbean, and I’ve missed the hell out of it. In Season 8, Captain Lee returned to one of his favorite places to sail, the Caribbean, but after a challenging time and the retirement of his chief Stewardess (Kate Chastain), he yearned for some familiarity and found solace with his old friend Bosun Eddie Lucas. Captain Lee wasn’t the only Below Deck OG on the yacht in the season. Eddie Lucas, who appeared as part of the deck team in Seasons 1 through 3, was back and served as bosun.
