Charlie Lapastora is a Filipino-American journalist working for KOVR CBS13 as a reporter and multiskilled community journalist since joining the station in October 2025. Previously, he spent over 11 years in both broadcast news and sports, with stops in Traverse City, Little Rock, Phoenix, and Austin.
Charlie Lapastora Education
Lapastora joined Calvin University in 2010 after finishing his high school education. He studied Sport and Fitness Administration/Management there until 2011, when he transferred to Oakland University. In 2014, he graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication and a Minor in International Relations.
While in college, he worked as a reporter and multimedia journalist at the OU News Bureau. He was also involved with the WXOU-College Radio, Lambda Pi Eta, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Club Lacrosse Team, and Pi Sigma Alpha. He also received the Meritorious Achievement Award for the College of Arts and Sciences.
Lapastora delivered the commencement speech at the Oakland College of Arts and Sciences Commencement. Moreover, he earned the Keeper of the Dream Award for endorsing interracial understanding on campus.
