Cher Calvin Biography
Cher Calvin is an American Anchor/Correspondent/host/producer/writer working with KTLA 5 News where she serves the station as an Evening Anchor for the 6, 6:30, 10, and 11 PM weeknights News. She has been working with the station since January 2005. Asides from this, she works with ABS-CBN Corporation in Los Angeles, California where she serves the station as a Correspondent since September 2015.

Calvin works with KTLA 5 News where she serves the station as an Evening Anchor. She also works with for the Weekly segment at ABS-CBN Corporation as a correspondent/host/producer/writer for Share that with Cher Calvin. Prior to moving to her role as an Evening at KTLA News, she was working as a co-anchor for the weekend evening news and KTLA’s morning show. During this role, she won an Emmy in the year 2005.
Asides from this, she also picked up three Mike Awards: two of which she won for best public affairs program, “Access L.A.,” and one of the “KTLA 5 Morning News.” Prior to KTLA 5 News, she was working with Las Vegas Fox affiliate station KVVU-TV where she was co-anchoring “Fox 5 News This Morning.” Calvin kick-started her on-camera career working in Manila, Phillippines, where she lived between the years 1998 and 2003.
During this time, she served as a news anchor and also features reporter at GMA Network. Later on, she went on to work as an Anchor at CNN Asia affiliate and national network, ABS-CBN. While working at ABS-CBN, she was working as the national evening news anchor for “News Central.” There, he received the Golden Dove Award- the Philippines’ equivalent of an Emmy Award- for best newscast. She also received the Philippines Star Award in the year 2002 for best lifestyle host for the lifestyle magazine show “F,” which she co-produced and hosted for about four years.
During this time, she also hosted the weekly political roundtable talk show “Points of View,” also on ABS-CBN, where she received two Golden Awards in 2000 and 2002 for her work. While working in the Philippines, her assignments included “EDSA III,” an attempted coup to impeach former Philippines President Joseph Estrada.
Among her, most memorable interviews include the then-incoming Philippines President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, former Philippines President Fidel Ramos, and Prince Albert II of Monaco. With the belief that it is important to give something back to the community, she serves as a spokeswoman and annual master of ceremonies for the charity Asians for Miracle Marrow Matches(A3M). Asides from this, she also participated in “The Vagina Monologues” to help stop violence against women around the world.
Calvin also speaks Tagalog and participates in many Filipino and Asian community events. This includes the KTLA-sponsored annual Lotus Festival in Echo Park. She kick-started her journalism career in New York working as a news desk assistant editor for Time magazine. She is a proud graduate of New York University where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Political Science.
