Chesley McNeil Biography

Chesley McNeil is an American Meteorologist working with 11Alive News where he serves the station as a Morning and Noon Meteorologist since the year 2009. He instantly became Atlanta’s most popular on-air personality.

Chesley McNeil Career

McNeil works with 11Alive News where he serves the station as a Weekday Morning Meteorologist. He holds a BA in Mass Communications from Wesley College in Delaware, and a BS and MS in Geosciences from Mississippi State University. Asides from this, he also greets viewers every weekday at 4:30 AM as the host of his own morning show on 11Alive, “Wake Up With Chesley. She kick-started her career working with WBOC in Salisbury, Maryland.

Later on, after a short while, he moved on to WRIC-TV in Richmond, Virginia. There he was producing two weekly shows: a teen show called “Rich Talk” and a public affairs show called “This Week in Richmond.” However, his interest and training in Meteorology soon won him the weekend weather anchor job. There he was reporting on weather local events and environmental and human interest stories.

Later on, after about nine years at WRIC, he left his job anchoring the weather on Good Morning Richmond and the 8 News at Noon newscasts. He then moved to Buffalo, New York where he joined the staff of WGRZ as a morning Meteorologist for the Daybreak Morning show and Noon newscasts.

Asides from his television career, he has taught both undergraduate and graduate-level Meteorology, and earth Sciences courses at several colleges and universities. He is now teaching at Kennesaw University. McNeil has also been awarded the prestigious American Meteorological Society Seal of Approval. Asides from this, he is a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist and is a recipient of broadcasting Emmy Awards along with numerous professional awards and honors.

McNeil is a proud member of the American Meteorological Society, the National Association of Black Journalists, and the National Weather Association. He is also a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated. The year 2013 saw him being named by the Governor of Georgia to the Severe Weather Task Force. Away from work, he enjoys sports, especially tennis or basketball, making documentaries, and church.
