Christina Kay Biography
Christina Kay is an American 2x Emmy Award-Winning Meteorologist working at WAPT-TV in Jackson, Mississippi as the Weekday Morning Meteorologist. She joined the station in August 2019 after working for WJTV 12 News Channel.

Kay started her education journey at Mississippi State University and enrolled for a degree in Broadcast Meteorology with a minor in Communication. She later graduated with a Master’s degree in Professional Meteorology and Climatology. She was also involved in the FMB as a member of the color guard and as a clarinetist.
Furthermore, activities outside the classroom experience were as active as Kay’s classroom experience. Throughout the years she has been involved in numerous performance arts and sports such as dancing, basketball, and competitive figure skating. Most with regards to color guard, she received recognition on the national level in 2014 when she earned her membership in the US Army All-American Color Guard. This great lineup afforded her a chance to dance at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas in front of millions of soldiers throughout the nation and across the world.

Kay serves as the weekend morning meteorologist for the 16 WAPT News in Jackson, Mississippi. Before this goal, she had obtained her degree and ventured into the world of media with, what can be deemed as, a life-changing incident in 2008 an EF3 tornado struck downtown Atlanta and sparked her passion for weather.
Before joining the City Link she assisted as a meteorologist at WJTV 12 where she polished her skills in forecasting. In August 2023, she shifted her level of engagement in meteorology to the next level at WAPT and enhanced her commitment to serving the community. Through the means of the accolades, Kay’s dedication has been rewarded and commended several times. In 2019 she received the second runner-up Miracle Maker Award for her fundraising efforts which added $1,300 to Batson Children’s Hospital. Furthermore, she has been awarded the Betty Jean Memorial Hospitable Scholarship and the Miss America 1986 Susan Akin Scholarship for becoming the finalist of the top 15.
Despite all the performance arts, there was a great level of commitment to community service presented by Christina. She was involved in the Miss Mississippi Corporation operating in the Miss America Circuit. She is the holder of titles like Miss Magnolia 2018 and Miss Northland 2019 and, through her social mission, “Eyes on the Sky,” she strictly encouraged awareness and preparedness against severe weather disturbances in Mississippi schools. Another notable aspect of her charity work was the receiving of the second runner-up, Miracle Maker Award, in 2019 arising from her fundraising for Batson Children’s Hospital.
