Clarence Henderson is an American civil rights activist and former US Army soldier who is best known for participating in the 1960 lunch counter sit-ins in Greensboro, N.C. He is one of the speakers at the 2020 Republican National Convention where he will be speaking on the third day, on Wednesday night.

He is a Republican and a supporter of Donald Trump. In the 2016 election, he was a Trump supporter. In one of his most recent interviews with Greensboro News & Record, Henderson said “Politicians are a dime a dozen, but leaders are priceless. Donald Trump is a leader. And he loves America.”

He is the president of the Frederick Douglass Foundation for the State of North Carolina, a position he was appointed in May 2017. According to his website, Henderson received the 40 Anniversary Sit-In Participant Award in 2000, and thirteen years later, in 2013, he was appointed chairman of the North Carolina Martin Luther King Jr. Commission.
