Hall joined Mississippi State University in 1975 when he finished his high school education at Upper Arlington High School. In 1980, he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication and Media Studies. While in high school, he worked as a caddy at the OSU Scarlet Course. Back in the day, he worked with OSU & NFL coach Fred Pagac, Sr. on the same course to knock off Brent Musburger in a media scramble.

Hall previously worked for WSYX ABC 6 as the sports director. At the station, he was tasked with broadcasting Ohio State football and field anchoring the pre-game and post-game broadcasts on “The Football Fever” each fall. Also, he took his audience “Beyond the Game” on weekends. Most recently, he profiled blind wrestler Caiden Hooks’ run to the State Tournament.

In 2020, he alongside Executive Producer Stephen Kappas won the Ohio Associated Press “Best Sportscast” Award. His unforgettable stories associated with The Football Fever include the fleeting heist of Penn State’s cassette tape of the Lions growl, interviewing President Gerald Ford about his only loss to Ohio State, Urban Meyer’s return to his childhood home, and national championships victory in Tempe, Arizona & Jerry’s World in Arlington, and the rise, fall, and rebirth of Maurice Clarett. Also, the 2002 and 2014 broadcasts of Ohio State national championships. Hall has staffed games from Tucson, Raleigh, Seattle, and South Beach.

Previously, he worked as the sports director for WLBT in Jackson, Mississippi. He first joined WLBT in January 1983 as a weekend reporter and weekday anchor, a position he held for 9 years. Before Missippi, he worked in Columbus at WCBI as a sports director. His career started when he worked for the Montgomery Advertiser as a sports writer.
