Collin Riviello is an American journalist of Chinese descent working for WSPA as a reporter since joining the station in January 2024. Previously, he worked for WQAD News 8 in Moline, Illinois as a multi-skilled journalist.

Collin Riviello Education

Riviello joined Mount St. Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, Maryland in 2016. In 2020, he graduated with a Bachelor Of Arts degree in English and a Maryland certification in secondary education. During college, he served as a member of the NCAA Division I Cross Country and Track & Field teams. He also covered stories in and around Baltimore, College Park, and Washington D.C.

Riviello graduated during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. He pursued his passion for storytelling in college after deciding he didn’t want his first year of teaching to be through Zoom. In August 2020, he furthered his studies at the college and graduated with a Master of Journalism in Broadcast degree. During this time, he interned at Capital News Service.

Riviello also worked for The Diamondback as a part-time sports photographer and freelance writer there. He also worked as a freelance writer at Hyattsville Life & Times. Riviello broadcasted a few occasions in Moline like the Mississippi River flooding, the 2022 Midterm election cycle, and the Davenport Apartment Collapse in May 2023. Away from journalism, he is an astrophotographer and avid chess player.
