Colton Shone is an American Emmy Award-winning Reporter working for KTVK-TV as a morning anchor alongside Tess Rafols from 4:30 a.m. to 6 a.m. Previously, he worked for KOB 4 as an investigative reporter and morning news anchor.

Shone graduated from Tsinghua University in 2010 where he attained an International Business Journalism degree. He also received a degree in Business journalism from Fudan University. In 2007, he joined Arizona State University where he obtained a Master’s degree in Journalism and Mass Communication in 2011.

In addition to working for KTVK-TV, he also works as a podcaster at Native America with Colton Shone which was opened in 2018. Before joining KTVK-TV in August 2022, Colton worked for KOB 4 as an investigative reporter and morning news anchor. While there, he created and hosted a show called “Eye on New Mexico” which aired on NBC. For his excellent work, Shone was honored with three Emmy Awards for his coverage of the Navajo Nation’s fight against COVID-19.
Earlier, Colton served as an anchor and reporter at KOLD News 13 in Tucson, Arizona. He was also in charge of managing national news feeds, pitching, and editing videos. He worked for the station from October 2013 to October 2015 where he delivered news. Prior to joining KOLD News, Shone served as a reporter at KPHO, the CBS 5 affiliate in Phoenix. During his time there, he led the general assignment reporter and established trust sources.
Besides working at KPHO, Colton also worked as a freelance reporter at Navajo Times from January 2009 to December 2012. There, he covered high-profile news including the language revitalization efforts and the Murdered Indigenous People crisis. Previously, Shone spent one year working for PBS News as a special reporter from July 2010 to September 2011.
He began his professional career at KTAR FM working as an anchor and rep0rter from January 2008 to September 2011. Colton also weekend anchored and edited videos using Marantz and WireReady. Prior to this, he also served as a stringer at ABC Radio where he covered national stories. After that, he joined ABC 15 as a Scripps Howard scholar from January 2010 to August 2010.
