Conor Doherty Biography

Conor Doherty is an American journalist working for WWAY as a multimedia journalist since joining the station in May 2023. Previously, he worked as a multimedia reporter at WVNS 59 in Ghent, West Virginia.

Conor Doherty Education

Doherty joined Virginia Tech University in August 2017 after finishing his high school education. In May 2021, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Multimedia Journalism and a minor in History.

During his time in college, Doherty provided coverage for many Hokies sporting events for multiple student media clubs, including the final home game for Frank Beamer, the former Hokies football head coach. Moreover, he was a sports anchor for Tech Tonight, a student-run new organization on YouTube.

Doherty also worked as a videographer and reporter for Tech Total Access, a sports-focused news segment on Virginia Tech VTTV Channel 33. He worked as an internal vice president of the Virginia Tech Associate Chapter of Lambda Phi Epsilon, INC.

In 2020, Doherty furthered his studies at the University of Maryland Global Campus. He graduated with a Master’s degree in Strategic Communication in 2022.

Doherty worked as a weekend morning news anchor for WNAV, a radio station in Annapolis, for more than 2 years. He then broadcast sports and community stories for the Severna Park Voice, a monthly newspaper that covered his hometown and the nearby region of Broadneck.
