His proposal to the Cincinnati City Council led to an inner-city street receiving a new name in honor of high school honor student Derrick Turnbow, who was shot and murdered. He also spearheaded the effort to have the City of Cincinnati and the Cincinnati Reds commemorate the 50th anniversary of Jackie Robinson’s entrance into Major League Baseball.

Fuller has earned many awards for journalism excellence and community service, including several Emmy Awards. WLWT inducted him into the first class of the Hall of Fame in 2023. In 2021, he served as an inductee of the Ohio Valley Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Silver Circle, which honors TV professionals who have made lasting contributions to the industry and the community for 25 or more years.

Fuller served as one of the first journalists inducted into the Central Florida Association of Black Journalists and Broadcasters Hall of Fame. He has also received recognition from the Cincinnati Society of Professional Journalists, the Associated Press, the Ohio Society of Professional Journalists, United Press International, the Cleveland Press Club, and the Orlando Press Club.,

Cincinnati City Council recognized Fuller’s broadcasting career and contributions to the city in 2022 by passing a resolution. That same year, he earned the Glorifying The Lion Award from The Urban League. The previous year, the Hamilton County Commission named a day in his honor. He has also won the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Award and the YMCA’s Legend Award. He earned Cincinnati’s Men of Honor and received a nomination for Cincinnati’s Favorite TV Personality.

Fuller sits on the advisory board of the Cincinnati Scholarship Foundation. He is also an honorary member of the Cincinnati Opera Board. He previously served as a member of the Greater Cincinnati Tall Stacks Commission, the U.S. Department of Education’s Back-to-School National Advisory Board, the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra Board, and the Executive Board of the National Association of Black Journalists.

Fuller established a scholarship in his name in 2010 to assist young aspiring journalists in attaining their dream. He believes that journalism is society’s mirror, and he is determined to ensure there is a variety of perspectives to the voices heard and the images seen in the media.

Fuller feels fulfilled when he follows the advice of one of his mentors, longtime Cincinnati broadcaster Ernest Waits Sr. Ernest always reminded him that journalists must prompt change and expose the truth through their reports and community bonds because everyone has a story.
