Damon Matson Biography
Damon Matson is an American meteorologist working for DC News Now as a meteorologist since joining the station in May 2020. Previously, he worked as a weekend meteorologist and reporter at WBNG in Binghamton, New York, for two years.
Damon Matson Education
Matson joined the California University of Pennsylvania in 2012 after finishing his studies at Brockway Area High School. In 2016, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology.
During college, he participated in the meteorology club, CUTV, and Theta Xi Fraternity. He received the 2015 NOAA Hollings Scholarship while still in school and did weather communications research for a summer with the National Weather Service in New Orleans.

Before moving to the DMV, Matson worked as a weekend meteorologist and reporter at WBNG in Binghamton, New York, for two years. There, he broadcast the various forms of weather in the Southern Tier and won the New York State Broadcasters Association Outstanding Weathercast Award in 2019.
Matson launched his career while still in graduate school, where he did weekend weather for WTOK in Meridian, Mississippi, for two years. He serves as a member of the National Weather Association and the American Meteorological Society.
